Welcome to Rugged Ram Outdoors,
We are a new small family business that are based in Upper Hutt, Wellington. We’ve been wanting to get into the quality outdoors/ hunting market for some time now, this is based on the many years of outdoors and hunting experience myself and my family have. Also, this is genuinely one of our great passions and getting outdoors is our number one hobby!
As a family we love camping and getting outdoors, we have had many road trips up North and Down south exploring all those amazing places and discovering those spots with the 4WD that not everyone can experience. This has lead us to our recent purchase our new Off-Road Caravan and we cant wait to get back down South and really test it out.
Personally I have been hunting for many years now and this really is a great passion of mine. This has involved many days and countless hours recovering those Reds and Fellow in the thick North Island bush, Those long 8 hour + recovery’s with 700m – 1000m long range shots, Chasing Chamois around the Kaikoura tops and freezing my ass off in the snow down Otago trying to find that Bull Tahr I’ve been searching for. I really do love getting out there with mates and family and putting meat in our freezer.
Another big passion of mine is gear testing, not sure if this is a good or bad thing when you realise how much you’ve spent on all of it!
I really do enjoy buying multiple products in the same category like tents, sleeping mats, sleeping bags, packs, high performance clothing, rifles, optics, trekking poles etc. This has given me real life experience on a lot of the popular outdoor brands in the market and what actually performs in the hills and back country of New Zealand where it really counts!
We are wanting to give our customers a real experience when shopping with us, in the sense that they can call up for advice on the products we sell and area that they are best used in. The difference will be that we genuinely know what we are talking about and the customers aren’t just dealing with another retailer that has very little knowledge about the gear they are selling, we want people to be happy with the product they have purchased off us.Â
We are starting out with an online shop only with the potential to move into a retail shop in the near future. We do hold stock for our online sales, this is also for our customers to come and try on and view specific products.Â
We are aiming  to be a more lifestyle-orientated business as we are wanting show our customers Hunting, traveling and camping using our Off-Road Caravan to take videos exploring New Zealand.
